No I don’t mean the football club! Last September we had a fantastic 5 nights at Newberry Valley campsite in Combe Martin, North Devon (You can read about it in “Camping With Wolves“). The camp site is at one end of the small valley and at the other end is The Wolf Centre run by TV personality Shaun Ellis…. “The Wolf Man”.
It would now seem though that The Wolf Centre is under threat from the planning department and there is a fear that there may be a possibility that if permission is refused the centre will have to close and the fate of the wolves is unknown.
You can read the story here…. http://www.thewolfcentre.co.uk/page/save-the-centre-campaign/the-story
There is an online petition that you can sign to help support Shaun and the wolves.
There has been a lot of press coverage in the Daily Mail and Guardian newspapers but every signature helps.

Hello Simon
Unfortunately it doesn’t really surprise me that Shaun is having problems with the local authority; although not always the case, most planning officials are small minded, petty little jobsworths who cannot comprehend anything outside their own narrow view of the world. Like the UK Wolf Conservation Trust near Reading, Berkshire which I had the pleasure of visiting a few years ago – see snaps here

Shaun is doing a very valuable job in the fields of research and conservation of a species which humankind has persecuted almost to extinction, and he should be properly funded, supported and encouraged by the local authority, not shut down. Apart from which he brings in an enormous amount of revenue to the area through visitors who spend money locally. It is very unfortunate that the local planning department is so dumb it can’t see the economic collateral damage they will cause if they close the Wolf Centre.
